Heatsurge
Heat Surge Fireplace
Horse-and-buggy Amish advertising on television?
The Amish, who still use buggies and horses for their transportation, build the HeatSurge fireplaces, which are advertised for sale on television? Seems a huge dis-connect at work here.

I live in Ohio and if you think that’s hypocritical you ain’t seen nothin! They don’t just ride in horse and buggy. They have no problem paying someone to drive them all around in a car. They just won’t drive. Plus, many of them use cell phone and generators (but they’ll tell you they don’t). Most of them have houses that have all the modern comforts – just powered with gas instead of electric. (But the electric is hardwired in, just not connected to anything, just in case they want to sell it to a heathen later on.) They have very good explanations for all of this, though. But don’t ask them to pay taxes or enlist in the military – that’s against their religion. They don’t want the government anywhere in their business. And that includes things like expecting them to pasteurize the milk they sell or abide by any other health codes. Beat your animals? Sure! Don’t provide proper health and dental care for your kids? Why not! It’s all part of their religion so back the heck off! But boy!!! Wait til it’s time to vote!! They are out in droves casting their ballots for the most right wing nut jobs that are on the ballot!. They don’t want this nasty “English” government in their religion but they are more than happy to insert their “religion” into our government. Although I have met some very nice folks of the Amish persuasion – as you can see – I’m not a huge fan of the culture. In fact, in a generation or so, the Amish could outnumber non-Amish in places like Ohio and Pennsylvania. It’s the little secret no one knows about. People think they are cute and quaint but they can be extremely harsh and are absolutely unforgiving of their own if they choose to leave the Amish community. If a child chooses to leave, they can never see their family again.
